GD-CAT · 8×5 Tandem Axle Cage Trailer

2,500 kg Payload in a Hot-Dip-Galvanized 2,400 × 1,500 mm Cage-Trailer Format

GD-CAT combines a published 2,500 kg payload with tandem axles, 185R14C tyres, leaf-spring suspension, electromagnetic service braking, a parking hand brake and an A-frame drawbar with a 2-inch coupler.

The exact product photography adds an important visual distinction: this is not a bare flatbed. It uses a galvanized checker/diamond-pattern lower body and floor, a framed mesh cage above the side panels, tandem road wheels under full-width guards, and a fully equipped front towing interface.

Rating Boundary

2,500 kg Is the Published Payload—not the Trailer's Total Mass Rating

The supplied configuration states Payload: 2500 kg. Tare mass, ATM/GTM, GVWR and GAWR are not supplied. The page therefore does not calculate or imply a total certified trailer mass from payload alone.

Cage + Lower Body Architecture

300 mm Lower Panels and a 600 mm Grid Fence Create a Two-Level Cargo-Containment System

The internal box is specified at 2,400 × 1,500 mm. The lower door/panel height is 300 mm, with a further 600 mm grid-fence height above it.

The real product image confirms checker/diamond-pattern metal on the lower body and floor, with a square-section framed mesh cage above. Treat these as two different containment elements rather than describing the body as one 900 mm solid wall.

Tandem Running Gear

Dual Axles, 185R14C Tyres and Leaf-Spring Suspension Form the Published Running-Gear Package

The photographs visibly confirm the tandem-wheel layout, while the specification defines the tyre size as 185R14C and the suspension as leaf spring.

Do not infer tyre load index, speed rating, axle capacity, wheel load rating or spring rating from tyre size or appearance. Those fields need current production documentation.

Brake Architecture

One Axle Is Braked; the Second Axle Is Unbraked

The configuration is explicitly dual axle with one axle with brake and one axle without brake. Service braking is electromagnetic, while a separate parking hand brake is listed at the trailer front.

This is a critical wording boundary: GD-CAT must not be described as “braked on both axles” or “four-wheel braked.” Brake drum size, controller, breakaway system and certified braking performance are not supplied.

Front Towing Interface

The A-Frame Front End Combines the 2-Inch Coupler, Parking-Brake Lever, Jockey Wheel and Dual Safety Chains

The supplied specification defines an A-type traction frame with a 2-inch coupler, one set of guide-wheel outrigger equipment and two safety chains.

The exact image also clearly shows the front support wheel, the red-handled parking-brake lever and two safety chains hanging from separate attachment points. Coupler rating, chain grade/WLL and jockey-wheel capacity remain verification items.

Rear Body + Lighting

The Rear View Confirms Full-Width Panel Hardware, Mesh-Cage Structure and Two Combination Tail Lamps

The second exact GD-CAT photo gives a straight rear view. It confirms the rear body geometry, lower checker-pattern panel, framed cage and rectangular rear lamps positioned at the outer corners.

The parameter sheet states “Taillight / Wiring harness (7-pin Australian standard plug).” The plug standard is therefore a published fitment fact, but lamp approval numbers, wiring gauge, pinout and LED technology are not claimed.

Surface Protection

Hot-Dip Galvanizing Is a Whole-Trailer Specification Field—not Just a Silver Appearance

Surface treatment is specified as Hot-dip galvanizing, and the exact photos show a consistent galvanized appearance across the drawbar, body panels, cage frame and guards.

The images cannot establish zinc coating thickness, galvanizing standard, bath chemistry, post-treatment or corrosion-life performance. Those should remain OEM/RFQ acceptance fields.

GD-CAT FAQ

Questions to Resolve Before a Trailer Program

Is GD-CAT an 8×5 trailer?

The exact internal box is 2,400 × 1,500 mm, which is the dimensional class commonly sold in Australia as an 8×5 trailer. The metric dimensions remain the authoritative specification.

Is 2,500 kg the ATM/GVWR?

No. The supplied data identifies 2,500 kg as payload only.

Are brakes fitted to both axles?

No. The specification states one braked axle and one unbraked axle.

Can the jockey wheel be treated as a loaded trailer mover?

No load or manoeuvring rating is supplied for the front support wheel. Use its rated production data and operating instructions before defining a movement task.

Does hot-dip galvanizing define corrosion life?

No. Coating thickness, standard and service environment must be specified separately when they are acceptance criteria.
